The Sweet Life in SLU

Halloween is happening this weekend, but don’t worry — there will be plenty of sweet treats left in South Lake Union even after you’ve polished off the last of the candy corn. From decadent churros to whimsical macarons, the neighborhood’s dessert lineup is full of flavor and variety.

Passionate Pandan Chiffon Cake

Fall Macarons
You have a short window to enjoy Lady Yum’s Halloween-themed macarons (Blackberry Lime Vanilla, Chocolate Caramel Apple, and Black Magic) — these flavors are being retired after Halloween is over. Churros
Nothing warms you up during a bomb cyclone (also known as normal fall Seattle weather) quite like fried dough covered in cocoa, cinnamon, and sugar. Bubble Waffles
Yes, boba is the star at Happy Lemon. But don’t sleep on its bubble waffles — they have a nice, shatteringly crisp exterior and a chewy interior and come in original, chocolate, or matcha red bean. Christmas Tree Buttercream Cake
Cafe An’Clair, run by sisters Anthea and Clair, is a charming coffee shop with a daily menu featuring financiers and scones, plus the occasional pudding selection (banana, Oreo, matcha, and banana Nutella).
