Whether your goal is to enhance your fitness, acquire new abilities, or start a new hobby, there are plenty of options in the neighborhood to help enrich your life. Here’s a look at some of the interesting classes available in South Lake Union.

Build a Boat

The Center for Wooden Boats (1010 Valley Street) is partnering with Chesapeake Light Craft to offer unique “build your own boat” classes. In these engaging week-long sessions, participants will be meticulously guided on how to properly sand, paint, or varnish the boat, tailored to individual preferences.

These classes are open to anyone aged 18 and above and will be held at South Lake Union. Each class can accommodate up to 6 boats, ensuring a focused and hands-on experience. The classes are scheduled from 9am to 5pm, with the specific dates varying. Click here for pricing and more details.

Just Dance

Live2Dance (308 Ninth Avenue North) is dedicated to redefining the perception of dancing, highlighting its substantial benefits for physical, mental, and social health. The studio’s goal extends beyond promoting dance as a cardiovascular exercise—it aims to build communities, reduce stress, and spread happiness through its vibrant and energizing Indian-fused dance routines.

Live2Dance’s mission is to share the joy of dance and celebrate Bollywood and Indian culture across the nation. Its classes are designed to appeal to a wide audience, welcoming people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Learn to Roll

The structured curriculum at Praxis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (222 Minor Avenue North) presents a gradual progression through all skill levels, from brand new beginner to experienced competitor. Introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes offer beginners a comprehensive overview of self-defense techniques and strategies inherent to the discipline, providing a foundational roadmap for ongoing Jiu-Jitsu study. The Fundamentals course delves deeper, focusing on the intricacies of techniques and their effective application against resistance, following a structured curriculum for a well-rounded skill set. Intermediate classes build upon this base, introducing counters and combinations, enhancing defensive skills with offensive strategies. Advanced classes, including both Gi and NoGi sessions, are designed for mastering technique sequences and understanding their tactical applications, featuring sparring sessions by invitation, to integrate and refine all learned skills in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
