About the Chef
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Capocelli grew up surrounded by the flavors and traditions of his Italian family, with roots in Puglia and Napoli. His Nonno Antonio and Uncle Kevin are two of his biggest influences in the cocina and in life. His culinary path began early, but it crystallized after his family moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas, during his high school years. There, he started cooking at his uncle’s Italian restaurant and discovered what would become his life’s work.
Capocelli’s dedication to the craft led him to Alma – The School of Italian Culinary Arts in Parma, Italy, one of the world’s most respected culinary institutions. After a year of immersive training in the heart of Italy’s “Food Valley,” he returned to the U.S. and continued his education in Seattle, earning his Culinary Arts Associate Degree from Seattle Central College in 2021.
In Seattle, he gained hands-on experience at several notable Italian kitchens—including Via Tribunali, Mama Melina Ristorante + Pizzeria, and four years with Ethan Stowell Restaurants at How to Cook a Wolf and Rione XIII—further refining his skills in both traditional and contemporary Italian cuisine.
Today at Mezzanotte, Chef Capocelli blends authentic Italian heritage with refined technique and a distinctly Seattle sense of creativity. Guests can expect heartfelt cooking, bold flavors, and dishes that reflect a chef whose story is woven into every plate.
