The Victor Tavern

A new Ethan Stowell restaurant in South Lake Union.

The Victor Tavern, a fresh spot for lunch, happy hour, and dinner has landed in South Lake Union courtesy of Seattle restaurateur Ethan Stowell. The latest from Stowell makes its home in the Via 6 building across the street from The Spheres.

“We built the Victor to be the place that we would want to go for a great post-work happy hour or a fun and decidedly unfussy hangout spot to get a great burger and watch a game,” said Stowell, founder and CEO of Ethan Stowell Restaurants (ESR). “Our goals are simple—we want to make people happy for happy hour and to be the place that neighbors can mingle and just hang out over a game of pool and good conversation.”

That game of pool can happen upstairs in the Victor’s Tavern’s game mezzanine, which also features a bar (open Thursday through Saturday, 4–10pm), space for gathering, shuffleboard, and big-screen TVs.

The Victor’s beverage program is the first to launch under ESR’s new executive beverage director Erik Carlson formerly of the Weimann Maclise restaurant group (Stoneburner, Rhein Haus, among others). The fun find dual categories of Fizzes, Sours and Punches alongside Stirred and Spirit Driven Cocktails. Selections include the Legacy Sour with rye, lemon, port, egg white and ginger, Regent’s Punch with Jamaican rum, cognac, lemon, orange, pineapple, green tea and maraschino, and Turf with gin, dry vermouth, maraschino, absinthe, orange bitters and lemon zest.

In addition to mixed drinks, The Victor Tavern has lots of local beers on tap and rotating wine offerings.

The all-day menu is full of tasty bites like smoked tavern wings, spicy calamari, and fried Castelvetrano olives. A selection of big salads dots the menu, and chef-y burgers and sandwiches should satisfy any carnivore in your party (and yes, there is a veggie burger, too). The Victor Tavern is offering up two entrees currently — a rotisserie half chicken with roasted fingerling potatoes, sweet onions, trumpet mushrooms, rosemary-herb dressing, Macrina baguette, and simple green salad; and a slow-roasted prime with the same sides, plus horseradish cream and au jus.

Snag a reservation for indoor or patio dining at The Victory Tavern daily from 11am to 10pm (walk ins are available). You can get your happy hour on every day from 4 to 6pm.
