Open Markets

South Lake Union’s farmers markets are in full swing for summer.

South Lake Union’s big weekend attraction, the SLU Saturday Market, made its return to summer fun in early May. The popular market runs from 11am to 4pm every Saturday through October 1.

Located near Denny Park and the South Lake Union Discovery Center, this weekly market embraces street food, local makers, and artists.

This year is the market’s seventh in the neighborhood. More than 75 vendors sell everything from stroopwafels to jewelry, dumplings, and more. You can even purchase new plant babies from local plant shops like Urban Jungle and Little Orchid Annie. T

The SLU Saturday Market occasionally hosts DJs and musicians, and its known for also putting on special events and themes like the Sweet Tooth Popup (June 25), Food Truck Roundup (July 9), and the Summer Solstice Night Market (July 16).

For those looking for a weekday experience, the Pike Place Express Farmers Market is back at Van Vorst Plaza (426 Terry Ave. N.)  every Thursday from 10am to 2pm. This mini weekly market features some of the Pike Place Market’s biggest hits, including seasonal produce, brilliant bouquets, and food vendors selling everything from soup and quesadillas to corndogs.

Now that we’re  finally getting some summer weather, head outdoors and enjoy these two fantastic neighborhood markets.
