Let’s Scour South Lake Union

Thousands of dollars in prizes are up for grabs this month when you explore South Lake Union.

Last year, scores of participants braved snowy weather to participate in the Love SLU Scavenger Hunt, which featured prize-packed packages worth $800-$900.

The hunt, which is now called Scour South Lake Union, is back again over the course of two weekends in February (11–13 and 18–20). Over $2,500 in prizes will be available from SLU retailers. The scavenger hunt will include challenges for retail locations, art, interactive activations, and local points of interest like MOHAI, The Center for Wooden Boats, and more.

Scott Bradley, senior account executive at Let’s Roam, explained that scavenger hunts are becoming more and more popular every year.

“Particularly fed by many people being cooped up in their houses over the last two years, scavenger hunts allow people to get outside to explore in a socially distanced activity that doesn’t break the bank. As humans, we also crave adventure and exploration. Scavenger hunts allow people to get out and do just that but also while having a ton of fun along the way,” he said.

“In partnership with Amazon and Discover SLU, we are incredibly excited to be hosting this public scavenger hunt. Local commerce is the lifeblood of any neighborhood and with our scavenger hunts, locals can explore and discover retailers in a fun and competitive format that is totally unique. Our hope is that anyone who participates in this event gets the opportunity to discover something new about their neighborhood because there are plenty of a-ha moments to find there.”

SLU Chamber of Commerce executive director Danah Abarr is excited for the neighborhood to get some extra shine during the Scour South Lake Union campaign. “SLU is one of those neighborhoods that always takes people by surprise. So many have no idea how many cool restaurants and fun outdoor spaces we have here. It’s a perfect place for a scavenger hunt!”
