Happenings

Don’t miss these essential SLU events.

Mark the calendar and grab friends and family—South Lake Union is a hub of year-round happenings you don’t want to miss. Explore, experience, and taste all the neighborhood has to offer. There is something for fun-loving folks of all ages.

Don your mittens and scarf: On December 17, the Van Vorst Courtyard will host a holiday market featuring 25 craft booths curated by Urban Craft Uprising, plus hot chocolate and cider.

Get to know your neighbors at the monthly Cascade Community Potluck hosted by the Y @ Cascade People’s Center. Launched in 2014, the community dinner event runs October to May and is free and open to everyone. Bring whatever dish suits your taste and sit down for a shared meal. Break bread with anyone from Amazon employees to full-time residents and those without a regular roof. Conversation cards asking diners to, say, name their favorite Seattle spot help establish lasting connections.

Get ready to hit the water with the Seattle Boat Show from January 26 to February 9. The event is the largest boat show on the West Coast and features some 1,000 boats and yachts. It’s held at both CenturyLink Field Event Center and Chandler’s Cove, with a free shuttle for easy access. The SLU location is a favorite for viewing showstopping vessels. In 2015, a 163- foot, $25 million yacht wowed visitors—the biggest and most expensive in the event’s 68-year history.
