A Soup Dumpling Favorite in SLU

Supreme Dumplings’ Taiwanese flavors make their mark.

South Lake Union’s dining scene just got a serious upgrade. Supreme Dumplings, a fast-growing Washington-based dumpling chain known for its expertly crafted xiao long bao (soup dumplings), has officially opened its SLU location—bringing authentic Taiwanese flavors, inventive fillings, and a full bar to the neighborhood.

Already a favorite on the Eastside, Supreme Dumplings has quickly drawn crowds in SLU, thanks to a menu that balances tradition with creativity and a space designed for everything from casual lunches to team celebrations.

At its core, Supreme Dumplings is a celebration of Taiwanese cuisine. The menu features umami-rich rice dishes, artisanal noodles, wontons, and shareable appetizers—but it’s the xiao long bao that steal the show.

Crafted from authentic recipes developed by a master chef from Taiwan, each soup dumpling is designed to deliver comfort, balance, and bold flavor in a single bite.

“A great xiao long bao really comes down to three foundations,” says Natalie Tang, Corporate Trainer at Supreme Dumplings.

First: the pleats. The symmetrical folds aren’t just for looks. They help the dumpling cook evenly and seal the soup inside.

Second: the wrapper. They must be thin and delicate, yet strong enough to hold both filling and broth.

And finally: the filling. They need to be a carefully seasoned blend of juicy meat and rich soup that’s never dry and always deeply savory.

“When all three work together,” Tang explains, “you get a warm, comforting bite that makes you immediately crave the next one.”

Xiao long bao you won’t find anywhere else

What truly sets Supreme Dumplings apart is the variety of its soup dumplings. Alongside classic options, the menu features more adventurous flavors rarely found elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest—think Szechuan spicy, chicken & truffle, and crab & pork xiao long bao. Each delivers a distinct, flavor-forward experience while staying true to the form.

Why South Lake Union was a must

While Supreme Dumplings continues to expand across the Puget Sound region with locations in Redmond, Tacoma, Alderwood, Bellevue, and Kirkland, the SLU opening marks a major milestone.

“We knew we wanted a location in a true Seattle landmark,” says Tang. “South Lake Union made perfect sense.”

The SLU restaurant is also the first Supreme Dumplings location to offer a full bar, featuring a curated liquor selection and thoughtful mixology making it an easy go-to for happy hour, after-work dinners, or client meetups. (Yes, there’s a happy hour menu, and yes, it’s a great deal.)

Built for teams, celebrations, and community

Another standout feature at the SLU location is private dining, designed with the neighborhood’s many businesses in mind. The space includes projector and aux capabilities—ideal for team dinners, presentations, or celebrations—along with low booking minimums that make hosting accessible.

Tang says the SLU crowd has already made its mark. “We’re fortunate to serve so many nearby companies, and it’s been amazing to see them become regulars.”

What’s next

Supreme Dumplings has more in store, including limited-time offerings, new menu rollouts, and special Lunar New Year plans. Details will be announced soon, so keep an eye on their Instagram at @supremedumplings. Better yet, stop by in person and see what the buzz is about.

Whether you’re a longtime soup dumpling devotee or trying xiao long bao for the first time, Supreme Dumplings’ SLU debut is one worth savoring.
