Conveniently situated on the corner of Denny Way and Westlake Ave N, the South Lake Union Discovery Center is ideal for your community event, private party or corporate function. BASIC INFORMATION
> 11,000 square foot facility.
> Flexible floor plan with 140–person capacity.
> Kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, and dedicated loading ramp at back of building.
> Conference rooms with A/V options and complementary Wi-Fi.
> Rates depend on requested space, date, and duration of event.
We rent our conference rooms, gallery, and, during warmer months, our private, outside lawn.

PARKING
> 26 regular and 2 handicap paid parking spots available adjacent to the Discovery Center.
Rates: $3 for 0-2 hours; $5 for 2–3 hours and $10 for 3–4 hours.

West Conference Room
Seating for 10, white board, flat screen, Polycom, Wi-Fi.

South Conference Room
Seating up to 50 auditorium style, flexible furniture, white board, remote controlled projector, podium, Polycom, Wi-Fi.

Gallery
Seating up to 100 auditorium style, flexible furniture, Wi-Fi.

Lawn
Our private lawn is perfect for summer picnics, outdoor receptions, and sunset parties. It can also be utilized for light sport gatherings. We offer a variety of lawn games for recreational use.

Additional Amenities
110 folding chairs, 4 rectangular 8’ tables, 3 rectangular 4’ tables, 8 round 72” tables, several additional A/V options, DMX streaming music, Direct TV.

CATERING AND EQUIPMENT RENTALS

> The Discovery Center has tables and chairs, which you are welcome to use for your event. However, if you need additional rentals beyond our supply, please coordinate with a third–party rental company.
> The Discovery Center partners with select local caterers and rental companies.

SLU Saturday Market

Welcome to Seattle’s favorite Saturday market, South Lake Union Saturday Market. A refreshing European-style all food market place offering over 60 food booths for locals and tourists, and deservedly so.

SLU Saturday Market is kicking off their third season in the heart of South Lake Union starting May 6th! South Lake Union is quickly becoming the culinary heart of Seattle, where you can snack and shop local on Saturdays.

Discover what’s local featuring some of Seattle’s finest farms, chef demonstrations, purveyors, as well as a delicious selection of street food vendors curbside every Saturday.

Seattle Outdoor Cinema-Red, White & Dead: Shaun of the Dead

The Seattle Outdoor Cinema is bringing our beloved Red, White & Dead Zombie Walk & Movie Party back on July 1st for 4th of July weekend with a screening of Shaun of the Dead!

The former Fremont Outdoor Cinema’s annual tradition has been buried for dead, so it’s time to resurrect our horde for our 25th anniversary.

The screening will be Shaun of the Dead on a massive 55 ft inflatable screen in high definition. This screening will be 21+ only on the grass lawn at the SLU Discovery Center.

We will be hosting a fun zombie walk prior that will be family-friendly around South Lake Union at starting at Denny Park to the Space Needle at 6pm that is free to the public.

This event will NOT be going after a Guinness World Record, but simply aim to capture and celebrate the fandom of years past for the horde of local zombie fans.

We will be providing a commemorative poster as part of the ticket with a movie with proceeds going to the designated charity of choice.

The Dude is back for our annual Dude-filled movie party at the Seattle Outdoor Cinema on the grassy lawn.

This event offers a new craft White Russian bar with three unique versions to the dude-approved cocktail. Movie screening and costume party returns on July 22nd. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 17th and season passes include this screening too starting at just $25 for 7 screenings!

This event is free, but generally speaking pre-sales are non-refundable, due to rentals and operating costs already paid in advance. We will do our best to rescreen, but in the event that we can not, we will provide you a credit for another screening good for this year or 2018.
Full refunds are for when we cancel a screening prior beyond weather.

SLU Block Party

This summer’s block party is going to be bigger and better than ever, with signature events including the “SVC Steamroller Smackdown,” an old-school printing press competition. The festivities will also include feature performances by local bands throughout the day, with Hey Marseilles headlining. Enjoy plenty of local eats, a beer garden, and plenty of fun activities.  And do it all to benefit is Mary’s Place!

Washington Beer Collaboration Festival

The Washington Beer Commission is excited to announce that the Washington Beer Collaboration Festival will return to the South Lake Union Discovery Center lawn on August 19, 2017. This festival will feature 25 unique collaboration beers from 50 different Washington breweries. These beers will highlight the creativity and collaborative spirit of the Washington Beer community. This is an outdoor event. 

TICKETS
Tickets are $30 Advance or $35 at the door.
Admission includes a tasting glass and 8 tasting tokens. Each taste is 4 oz.
Additional tokens available to purchase for $2.00 each or three for $5.00.
Separate tickets required for each day.
$5 designated driver admission is available at the door. Designated driver includes includes soda and/or water.

VOLUNTEER!

We are looking for a few more volunteers to help out with beer pouring, registration, and WABL at this festival. If you’re interested in volunteering, please email us with your 1st and 2nd shift preferences. Volunteer shifts are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Volunteers receive admission to the event upon completion of their shift. Saturday, 2nd shift volunteers also receive admission to a future Washington Beer Commission event.
