Conveniently situated on the corner of Denny Way and Westlake Ave N, the South Lake Union Discovery Center is ideal for your community event, private party or corporate function. The space offers a modern backdrop to complement your event. Contact us to schedule a walk-through or check availability.

We rent our conference rooms, gallery, and, during warmer months, our private, outside lawn.

Rates: $3 for 0-2 hours; $5 for 2–3 hours and $10 for 3–4 hours.

West Conference Room
Seating for 10, white board, flat screen, Polycom, Wi-Fi.

South Conference Room
Seating up to 50 auditorium style, flexible furniture, white board, remote controlled projector, podium, Polycom, Wi-Fi.

Seating up to 100 auditorium style, flexible furniture, Wi-Fi.

Our private lawn is perfect for summer picnics, outdoor receptions, and sunset parties. It can also be utilized for light sport gatherings. We offer a variety of lawn games for recreational use.

Additional Amenities
110 folding chairs, 4 rectangular 8’ tables, 3 rectangular 4’ tables, 8 round 72” tables, several additional A/V options, DMX streaming music, Direct TV.


> The Discovery Center has tables and chairs, which you are welcome to use for your event. However, if you need additional rentals beyond our supply, please coordinate with a third–party rental company.
> The Discovery Center partners with select local caterers and rental companies.

Seattle Outdoor Cinema 2019: The Matrix

First Tech Federal Credit Union is proud to present the 20th anniversary of a blockbuster classic, The Matrix back on the big screen.

Seattle’s biggest favorite outdoor cinema series with three screenings on the grass at South Lake Union Discovery Center.

Every screening is free to the public alongside a night market showcasing food trucks, crafters, and vintage that is free to the public next door.

Grab your friends, grab a bite, play some lawn games and drink some beer for charity under the stars. Be sure to stay tuned for fun giveaways at the new SLU First Tech Federal Credit Union branch. Details coming soon.

First Tech Federal Credit Union is proud to bring a classic back for big screen 30th Anniversary celebration of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure on July 20th on the grass lawn at SLU Discovery Center.

SLU Block Party 2019


Now in its 15th year, the South Lake Union Block Party is the largest and longest running festival focused on celebrating and showcasing our neighborhood with:
  • Over 70 community businesses and organizations
  • Main stage featuring Northwest artists including The Dandy Warhols, Naked Giants, Polyrhythmics, Whitney Mongé, and Sisters
  • Beer garden
  • Local restaurants and food trucks
  • Letterpress salon and poster design competition (produced by School of Visual Concepts)


Proceeds will benefit FareStart, a James Beard Award-winning nonprofit organization that empowers adults and young people experiencing poverty and homelessness through job training and employment in the food service industry. FareStart operates eight social enterprise businesses that provides hands on training in a real world setting while providing revenue for its programs. Since 1992, FareStart has provided opportunities for more than 9,500 adults and youth, while serving over 10.7 million meals to Seattle area schools, homeless shelters and healthcare facilities.

Grilled Cheese Grand Prix 2019

We’re back for Seattle’s favorite festival celebrating bread, cheese and everything in between in our new location, South Lake Union!

This year’s festivities include a tasting garden paired with local cheese purveyors, food pairings and over 30 beverages from wine, cider to craft beer on tap! Plus over 20 food trucks cooking up the best grilled cheese inspired dishes in town!

This event does allow for families to have access to the food trucks, but tasting garden is ticketed for 21+ only.

Discount tickets go live April 14th honor of National Grilled Cheese month which will include a fun pop-up to be announced!

Trucktoberfest 2019

Seattle’s favorite curbside brew fest returns to South Lake Union for our 4th year! This festival brings over 30 breweries and 25 delicious food trucks and booths featuring a Bavarian-inspired dish!

The beer festival brings live music, food pairings, lawn games and tons of local and Bavarian beers on tap.

This event features a family-friendly food court that’s free admission. Discount tickets go live July 1st.
