On each third Thursday from July through September, Lake Union Rotary hosts a Happy Hour 4 Good on the dock at The Center for Wooden Boats.

The evening takes place from 6-8 pm and includes live music, food, drink and a few words from our partner organization. Please join us on August 20th to support this month’s beneficiary: Harvest Against Hunger.

Harvest Against Hunger is the ultimate connector and collaborator within Washington’s hunger relief system. They partner with hunger relief organizations, packing and processing warehouses, large-scale farmers, trucking companies, government agencies and small to mid-scale growers to bring more healthy food into the hunger relief pipeline. The food gathered through these partnerships includes truckload-sized donations (40,000 pounds) of imperfect yet healthy produce that farmers can’t sell; crops gleaned from farmers’ fields after harvest; and fresh, culturally relevant produce grown by small to mid-scale growers specifically for their local food pantries and meal programs. Since 1982, they’ve distributed over 250 million pounds of produce to hunger relief organizations while incubating, expanding, and supporting community-based hunger relief and food waste solutions. David Bobanick, Executive Director of Harvest Against Hunger, will be creating a delicious batch of his classic paella on site for your culinary pleasure. If you haven’t tasted David’s paella, you simply haven’t lived.

Our business sponsor for this event is Lake Union Dry Dock, located on Lake Union, which provides high-quality, cost-effective repairs and overhauls to a wide variety of maritime vessels. Learn more at: https://www.ludd.com/

Live Music will be provided by The Sue Nixon Quartet, a long-time Seattle-based jazz fixture, featuring Sue on vocals, along with piano, bass and drums.
