Future Arts invites creative digital thinkers and technology enthusiasts of all disciplines to bend and shift realities in the streets of Seattle with an international summer showcase, taking place in the South Lake Union neighborhood and beyond.
Join us with your mobile device at AUGMENT Seattle 2022 for immersive, augmented reality (AR) powered outdoor installations and mixed reality food + drinks. Urban spaces will be transformed and welcome the community to experience meaningful interactions through digital storytelling.
Seattle & Cascadia region artists alongside global creatives will open dialogue around AUGMENT’s 2022 theme “The New Nature”. ARtworks displayed are playfully evocative, challenging the public to consider digitally altered worlds that show virtual landscapes relating to their historical environments; mixing natural habitats and inhabits. Immigrant and refugee plants will appear on augmented popsicles, large scale holographic currents of fish will populate spaces of future office buildings, and indigenous plants will re-wild the tech-centric cement of South Lake Union. Ultimately, AUGMENT’s interactive programming will ask this multi-dimensional question: what kind of futures are we choosing to create, and how does nature – past and present – bring us back to our humanity?
