“Mega Pixels” at Amazon Spheres

Check out the interactive art piece at the Amazon Spheres Understory.

Did you hear? Local artist Jane Richlovsky has taken over Understory at Amazon’s Spheres from now until November 12 with her innovative art activation, “Mega Pixels.”

The project highlights intersections among the mechanical, the hand-made, and the organic. Visitors can create their own patterns from her hand-made “pixels” and they’ll be photographed for use in a crowd-sourced film, which will later be cast on a nearby widescreen.

“A continuous loop of geometric, pattern-based, handmade, stop-motion animations will run on the LED screen. On the gallery wall, I’ll hang a rotating display of screen-printed patterns, hand-printed on paper and related to the animations. The juxtaposition will play with the differences and highlight the similarities between handmade and digital; tactile and virtual; and between stillness and motion.” – Jane Richlovsky.

Stop by Understory at the Amazon Spheres to check out “Mega Pixels” every Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and meet Jane on-site on Thursdays from 10am to 6pm.

This project is part of a series of art activations curated for Amazon’s Understory by NINE dot ARTS. Stay tuned for details on the other artists, activations, and community events coming to Understory in 2023!
