Three to See at Winston Wächter Fine Art

Check out new dimensions of perception at these exhibits.

A trio of eye-catching and thought-provoking exhibitions at Winston Wächter Fine Art invites South Lake Union art lovers to push the boundaries of perception, material, and form.

Derrick Velasquez: Diffuse

Running through June 21, Diffuse by Derrick Velasquez explores the hazy edges between clarity and obscurity. Using layered materials like marble dust, sandstone silt, and stained glass, Velasquez crafts immersive works that mirror the way light shifts at dusk and shapes blur into landscape. His compositions invite viewers to contemplate how light, texture, and proximity shape what we see and what we think we know. Velasquez, a Denver-based artist and curator, brings a national perspective to Seattle with a portfolio that includes exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the New Mexico Museum of Art.

Susan Dory: Slipstream

Also on exhibition through June 21, Slipstream by Seattle-based painter Susan Dory is inspired by the expressive power of color and the philosophies of Eastern metaphysics. Dory’s abstract paintings use organic forms and geometric grids to explore memory, perception, and the hidden nature of consciousness. Her work is both visually striking and meditative—a reminder to pause and enjoy the analog act of seeing.

Group Exhibition: Color Blind

Opening May 22 and running through July 3, Color Blind features works by Joe Andoe, Tom Baril, Peter Gronquist, Kim Keever, Amanda Manitach, Kandis Susol, and Jon Krawczyk. Stripped of color, the pieces highlight how shadow, contrast, and texture alone can evoke powerful emotional and aesthetic responses. This black, white, and grayscale exhibition is a study in restraint—where the absence of color becomes a bold presence.
