Summer in SLU

A CREOS art installation—plus daily activities—pop up for the sunny season.

CREOS, an arts agency that facilitates temporary public interactive installations, is bringing a new special display to South Lake Union. Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0 is inspired by buzzing street markets, or mercados, of Latin America.  It was created by artists Esrawe + Cadena and is produced by CREOS.

The installation features a collection of bright-red, three-dimensional frames that support easy going porch swings. Each frame is meant to remind us of the warmth, comfort, and safety of our homes. The swings are made of urban ash, giving a second life to trees cut down by the City of Montreal due to damage caused by emerald ash borers, a type of beetle that feeds on ash trees.

Be sure to stop by and enjoy a peaceful, leisurely sway on one of these gorgeous swings.

Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0 will be on display through September 10.

In addition to the CREOS installation, passersby, visitors, and SLU workers alike can participate in plenty of Summer in SLU Fun through September 10.
