Rocket Dog Care Lands in SLU

Where dogs play, learn, and thrive.

South Lake Union just got a little more dog friendly. Rocket Dog Care, which has its first location in Crown Hill, recently opened a brand-new facility—and it’s redefining what dog daycare can be.

“South Lake Union has so much energy. It’s packed with dog-loving professionals, fun outdoor space, and a community that treats pups like family,” says Holly Rose, owner of Rocket Dog Care. “We imagined a place where enrichment comes first: agility courses, brain games, toy time, treadmill workouts, zen den breaks, birthday parties, homemade treats, spa days—the works!”

Unlike traditional dog daycares that focus solely on open play, Rocket Dog builds every day around intentional enrichment and personalized care. “We keep our playgroups small and intentional, matching dogs by size and temperament, so they feel safe and confident,” Rose explains.

The daily schedule blends morning adventure sessions—from agility games to puzzle feeders—with quiet Zen Room breaks for lunch, naps, and treats like homemade pupsicles or lick mats. Afternoons bring more group play, treadmill workouts, and a calm wind-down so pups go home happy, tired, and ready to snuggle. Overnight guests enjoy cozy bunk rooms, soothing sound machines, and plenty of cuddles.

One of Rocket Dog’s newest offerings is the “Sniffari Session,” a guided sensory adventure featuring textured walking paths, hidden treats, and calming sounds. “Dogs experience the world through their noses,” Rose says. “It’s amazing to watch shy or anxious pups light up during a Sniffari.” Spa treatments and the Zen Room give pups a chance to relax and reset. “Our Zen Room is perfect for puppies, seniors, or any dog that needs a quiet moment,” she adds.

Rocket Dog also loves to celebrate. “From Halloween costume contests to summer splash days and seasonal art projects, there’s always something fun happening,” Rose says. Next up: a Fall Fine Art Pop-Up with Olive & Fable Pet Photography on Saturday, October 4, from 1–4 PM. Participants will receive a digital and printed portrait, with 100% of proceeds donated to Forever Home Rescue—the organization that placed Laffy, the terrier mix who’s now a Rocket Dog mascot.

For Rose, “next-level care” means more than keeping dogs busy. “It’s about nurturing the whole dog—mind, body, and spirit—and creating a community where both dogs and their humans feel at home. We like to think of ourselves as Seattle’s artisanal alternative to traditional dog care.”
