New to SLU: Mendocino Farms

This sandwich and salad spot encourages diners to “Eat Happy.”

Just in time to capture the buzzing return to work lunch crowd, Mendocino Farms is a new spot that took over the former Princi Bakery space at 2118 Westlake Avenue in South Lake Union. The California chain specializes in sandwiches, salads, and more, all full of quality, fresh ingredients.

The 4,277 square-foot SLU location features 744 square feet of patio for outdoor dining, plus its bright interior is made more alive by a very Seattle mural from local artist Jen Vickers.

Mendocino Farms’ menu includes the best-selling “Not So Fried” Chicken Sandwich made with house made Mendo Krispies. It’s a better-for-you take on a traditional fried chicken sandwich. The Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada is this spot’s number one salad.

While there are currently no Seattle-specific entrees, Mendocino Farms’ menu introduces new entrees three times a year. Seattleites were some of the first to experience the restaurant’s latest seasonal dishes — the Hot Honey Peach & Prosciutto Sandwich and the Strawberry Fields Salad with Chicken. For the month of June, Mendocino Farms is teaming up with their neighbors Monorail Espresso to help promote a seasonal latte: the Iced Strawberry Fields Latte is a refreshing mix of Monorail Original Blend espresso, milk, and natural strawberry and pistachio flavors.

You can also find a nice selection of deli sides and soups, a perfectly pleasing kids’ menu, and beer and wine on offer.

If you’re looking for catering, Mendocino Farms provides a select menus of its sandwiches and salads, and can also put together boxed lunches for your event.

Mendocino Farms is open daily from 11am to 9pm.
