Dine at the Astra Hotel

Add Otium Grill and Greens to your must-try list in SLU.

Tucked in the Astra Seattle Hotel at 300 Terry Avenue North is a gem of a dining spot in South Lake Union. Otium Grill and Greens opened in summer 2022 with the debut of the new hotel property.

Chef Kalen Schramke helms the kitchen at Otium, and his time spent on his grandparent’s Michigan orchard translates to the culinary direction here. Diners will find local, sustainable, and organic produce and proteins throughout the Northwest-inspired menu. Dishes are flavored with the likes of charred date butter, fennel jam, and kale marmalade.

As the name suggests, the menu includes space for grilled items and greens. Think hangar steak with grilled broccoli and lime chimichurri from the grill, and roasted carrots with sesame seeds, honey, sumac, tahini yogurt, and mint from the greens section. Small plates like the tuna crudo will delight with its sustainable albacore with citrus, fennel jam, and green oil.

Lunch time at Otium is more a salad and sandwich affair, but the flavor profiles still sing during the day. A few options include the Waldorf chicory salad dressed with Asian pear, walnuts, celery, grapes, and citrus jam and the short rib grilled cheese served with melted Havarti and kick-y Calabrian chili.

Dining at the Astra Hotel is in fact an all-day affair. Sip coffee and get your morning baked vittles or breakfast sams at the on-site Caffe Ladro location, or book a table for a nightcap at ALTITUDE, the Astra’s epic rooftop bar. For your next business lunch of a nice night on the town, don’t overlook this delightful new addition to the South Lake Union dining scene.
