Celebrate SLU

South Lake Union Chamber of Commerce awards local businesses and organizations.

Each year since 2008, the South Lake Union Chamber of Commerce has recognized businesses and organizations that demonstrate strong efforts in building a successful community in the neighborhood.

A committee organized by the SLU Chamber nominates six business in five categories. According to the Chamber, these businesses and organizations are chosen based on demonstration of participation in, support of, or good works in/for the community. Think community events, fundraisers, donations to local causes, advocacy on community issues, community improvement projects, and more.

The goal of these works should be to help South Lake Union succeed as a community.

On February 20, 2020, the SLU Chamber presented its 2019 Celebrate SLU Awards at the Westin Seattle. The evening featured live music, light appetizers, and networking. Attendees were treated to a special presentation from MOHAI reflecting on the past 20 years and looking ahead to the next 20, plus guest speaker Marty Hartman of Mary’s Place discussed the future of family homelessness in SLU.

The 2019 Celebrate SLU winners are:

Li’l Woody’s (SLU Restaurant of the Year)

Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SLU Nonprofit of the Year)

Downtown Dog Lounge (SLU Small Business of the Year)

Jack’s BBQ (New to SLU Business of the Year)
