This summer marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, and the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) is commemorating the milestone with a season of exhibits and events that invite visitors to reflect on the nation’s past, present, and future.
The centerpiece is the Freedom Plane National Tour: Documents That Forged a Nation, arriving at MOHAI from July 30-Aug. 16. Seattle is the final stop on a national tour visiting just eight cities, making it a rare opportunity to see some of America’s most significant founding-era documents without traveling to Washington, D.C.
The free exhibition features original records that helped shape the United States, including an official engraving of the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Paris recognizing American independence, an early printing of the Constitution with handwritten notes, and the Senate’s markup of the Bill of Rights. Many of these documents are rarely displayed together, making this a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Pacific Northwest visitors.
