In July of 1989, 40 canoes from 17 tribes participated in the first Paddle to Seattle, established by Quinault Indian Nation member Emmett Oliver.

35 years later, the cultural revitalization and impact of Canoe Journey grows stronger still. Join Marylin Oliver-Bard, Native Community Speaker and daughter of Emmett Oliver, for on-board talks exploring the history and continued impact of Canoe Journey.
