A series of movies designed to showcase the concepts and art in Imagined Futures, an exhibition currently on display at Pivot Art + Culture, demonstrating how our visions of the future have changed over the decades.
April 21st | Silent Running (Douglas Trumbull, 1972)
A cult movie from the early 70’s starring Bruce Dern with Joan Baez on the sound track, Silent Running melded the burgeoning eco-consciousness of the late 60’s with the new technical expertise of 2001 : A Space Odyssey (1968). Its director, Douglas Trumbull was head of special effects on 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the original Buckminster-Fuller-esque ‘agridome’ from Silent Running is exhibited in Imagined Futures.
Note: All movies will be shown at 6pm in the Allen Institute Auditorium, prefaced with a short introduction by the exhibition curator Benedict Heywood.
