From August 8 through September 30, Pilates ProWorks, the boutique fitness studio concept known for its contemporary twist on traditional Pilates, is collecting diapers of all sizes to help support local mothers in need.

Roughly 1 in 3 American mothers report experiencing diaper need and nearly 5.2 million children in the U.S. aged three or younger live in poor or low-income families and are in need of diaper assistance, according to the National Diaper Bank Network.

“As a mother, I know the importance of clean diapers and the health risks soiled diapers pose to infants and young children,” said Taylor Carter, co-founder and president of Pilates ProWorks. “We want to do our part to help support struggling mothers. So many of our clients can relate to how overwhelming motherhood can be, so we hope to  provide them with much-needed relief.”

Diapers will be collected at the South Union studio, located at 771 Thomas St. All of the diapers collected will be donated to Mary’s Place, a homeless shelter that aims to provide resources for struggling families in the Seattle area.

Pilates ProWorks’ diaper drive is a part of a larger brand-wide initiative, “Restore Your Core,” which emphasizes the importance of empowering mothers to practice self-care.

Mary’s Place has a specific need for larger diapers (sizes 5 and 6) and Pull Ups (Sizes 4T-5T). The center also needs soy formula and strollers.

Founded in 2009 in San Francisco, Pilates ProWorks took the Bay Area by storm, quickly becoming the leading Pilates-based fitness concept in the area due to its alternative workouts and unlimited class membership offerings. Introducing Pilates to innovation, Pilates ProWorks offers a fresh approach to the traditional Pilates method, using the brand’s patented, custom-made reformer machine and contemporary teaching methods.

Each studio offers a variety of classes that give members inspiring, full body workouts and help clients around the world achieve their fitness goals. The innovative fitness concept offers a variety of 40-55 minute classes lead by professional instructors.
