Dine Out For Immanuel Community Services

Do you like a great burger and a shake (boozy shake if you like)? Do you want to support a local restaurant? Do you want to make an impact in the community? Well, if you answered “yes” to all three (even two, or one) then please join me for dinner at Lunch Box Laboratory on 8/30 anytime between 5:00 pm and 10 pm. If you have not been to Lunchbox Laboratory at 1253 Thomas Street – one block west of REI and right across the street from Immanuel Community Services, you are in for a treat. If you have been, well, time to go again.

All you have to do is tell them you are dining to support ICS – point across the street – and they will donate 20% of your bill to the team at ICS to support the vital programs they provide the community and our neighbors in need.

So, you get a great meal, Lunchbox Laboratory has a packed dining room, and ICS can do more for the community. Seems like a win-win-win!

Will you join me in supporting the oldest social services organization in South Lake Union. Hope to see you!

Diaper Drive - Pilates ProWorks Helping Mary's Place

From August 8 through September 30, Pilates ProWorks, the boutique fitness studio concept known for its contemporary twist on traditional Pilates, is collecting diapers of all sizes to help support local mothers in need.

Roughly 1 in 3 American mothers report experiencing diaper need and nearly 5.2 million children in the U.S. aged three or younger live in poor or low-income families and are in need of diaper assistance, according to the National Diaper Bank Network.

“As a mother, I know the importance of clean diapers and the health risks soiled diapers pose to infants and young children,” said Taylor Carter, co-founder and president of Pilates ProWorks. “We want to do our part to help support struggling mothers. So many of our clients can relate to how overwhelming motherhood can be, so we hope to  provide them with much-needed relief.”

Diapers will be collected at the South Union studio, located at 771 Thomas St. All of the diapers collected will be donated to Mary’s Place, a homeless shelter that aims to provide resources for struggling families in the Seattle area.

Pilates ProWorks’ diaper drive is a part of a larger brand-wide initiative, “Restore Your Core,” which emphasizes the importance of empowering mothers to practice self-care.

Mary’s Place has a specific need for larger diapers (sizes 5 and 6) and Pull Ups (Sizes 4T-5T). The center also needs soy formula and strollers.

Founded in 2009 in San Francisco, Pilates ProWorks took the Bay Area by storm, quickly becoming the leading Pilates-based fitness concept in the area due to its alternative workouts and unlimited class membership offerings. Introducing Pilates to innovation, Pilates ProWorks offers a fresh approach to the traditional Pilates method, using the brand’s patented, custom-made reformer machine and contemporary teaching methods.

Each studio offers a variety of classes that give members inspiring, full body workouts and help clients around the world achieve their fitness goals. The innovative fitness concept offers a variety of 40-55 minute classes lead by professional instructors.

August 11 - September 15, Winston Wachter

Jessica Cantlin Ethereal

Winston Wächter Fine Art is proud to announce our first solo exhibition with artist Jessica Cantlin. Cantlin’s photographs elegantly capture the connectedness to nature found in moments of quiet solitude. Fueled by her love of travel, Cantlin has documented the universal peacefulness which can be found with time by the ocean, the desert or with wildlife. Cantlin’s ability to capture atmosphere and light, further enhance the sense that the viewer is experiencing these meditations personally. Her work encapsulates moments in time and the joy found in exploring new environments.

Jessica Cantlin is a fine art photographer and writer. After leaving her career as a successful attorney, Jessica searched for ways to “feed her wanderlust”. By creating the popular blog of the same name, she was able to document her travels and share her experiences, with the hopes of inspiring others to appreciate the beauty surrounding them.

July 1 - November 15, South Lake Union

Storefronts Program - South Lake Union Artists

“Storefronts South Lake Union presents three rounds of installations in 2018- each round is themed around the concept of building relationships with cities, people, and nature. In this second round we explore the works of artists incorporating the human figure into their works. Reflecting the faces, bodies, and silhouettes of those around them, these artists build up themselves and the community around them. Join us in engaging with themes of power, identity, history, community, and all the intricate human connections which frame who we are today and how we relate to each other.” – Hanako O’Leary, Storefronts Program Coordinator
