Supply Surge for Local Students is Back

Local businesses team up to change the lives of homeless and underserved youth.

With so much going on in our communities right now, students shouldn’t have to think about how to get the school supplies they need to be successful.

You can help lift this burden from homeless and underserved students.

Now through August 21, PEMCO Insurance is teaming up with more than 35 SLU businesses to collect essential school supplies through the Supply Surge. Donations benefit Seattle-area elementary students with the highest need and supplies are shipped directly to schools at the completion of the campaign.

“The need among some of our students is immense and requires the focus of not just Seattle Public Schools, but the community at large,” said Tim Robinson, an SPS spokesperson who works closely with the McKinney-Vento Program. “That’s why we are so grateful for PEMCO’s dedication and leadership in rallying so many great members of the business community to help our students.”

By collaborating with other local businesses, PEMCO intends to raise the bar for giving. In 2019, Supply Surge collected over 195,000 supplies for more than 9,300 local students. This year, all giving can be done through the Supply Surge website, making it easier and safer to give to students in need. Donations will help students regardless of whether they’re learning in the classroom or online.

“Students’ access to resources and tools is essential for their success. At PEMCO, we are committed to helping students thrive and recognize that by teaming up with local businesses, our efforts can make a big impact,” said MJ Vigil, Chief People and Brand Officer at PEMCO. “Kids have proven this year that they’re resilient and driven to continue learning in less-than ideal circumstances. We are proud to support them by leading the Supply Surge.”

If you want to help make an impact for local students in need, go to the Supply Surge website directly. There, you can select your favorite participating local business or “Community Member/other” and choose to donate items like backpacks, pencils, crayons, or $25 and $50 kits that include everything students need to have a successful school year.
