Let’s Get Kraken!

Five spots for pre- and post-hockey fun in SLU.

The puck drops for the Seattle Kraken’s first ever regular season home game on Saturday, October 23. The home team will face off against our neighbors to the north, the Vancouver Canucks, in the start of a four-game homestand. After a shortened season because of COVID-19, the NHL returns to a full 82-game schedule, meaning we’ll get home ice 41 times through April 2022, and more if the Kraken rise to the playoffs.

If you’ve got tickets to the game, you’ll need some fun options before and after a Kraken win. From nearby family friendly dinners to post-game nightcaps, we have you covered.

Check out these neighborhood favorites this season:

Family dinner before the puck drop

Fill up on pasta, pizza, and other Italian classics at Buca di Beppo. You can get daily deals featuring bread, salad, and an entrée-of-the-day for $10 per person. The restaurant is also celebrating World Pasta Month with two new savory entrees.

Bird's eye view of a table filled with Italian family-style dishes and people reaching for them.

The burgers at Lunchbox Lab are about the same size as hockey pucks but are certainly better tasting. Its experimental burgers feature something for everyone, including an Homage to the Dick’s Deluxe, The Cluck Norris, and the Feaux Real, a mouthwatering and meatless burg built with a Beyond meatless patty, creamy Chao cheese, vegan Top Secret Burger Sauce, lettuce, and tomato.

Gear up

Get all your Kraken gear before you show up at Climate Pledge Arena at the Seattle Kraken Flagship Store at Chandler’s Cove. You can find t-shirts, sweatshirts, soft-shell jackets, golf shirts, hats, backpacks, and more.

Capture the moments

Commemorate the Seattle Kraken’s inaugural season with some newfound photo skills. Book yourself a class at Glazer’s Camera, which has been serving new and experienced photographers since 1935.

Grab a nightcap

Tray of mixed drinks like beer, cocktails, etc.

LOCAL Public Eatery features a late-night happy hour (9pm to close) with deals on nachos, hot wings, beer, wine, and cocktails. Thomas Street Warehouse is open to 2am every day and features weekend drink specials during Kraken games. If you don’t have tickets, cozy up and watch the game on one of this spot’s big screens. If choice is your game, head over to Tapster to experience a true brew tasting room. You pay for your drinks by the ounce, and with 57 taps available, there’s likely something here for everyone.
