Pastel drawing of a glacier

Zaria Forman’s singular focus in this new exhibition is the Perito Moreno Glacier, located in Los Glaciares National Park in Patagonia, Argentina.

The Perito Moreno Glacier is over 19 miles long and nearly 100 square miles in total. It is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, which impressively holds the world’s third largest reserve of fresh water.

Forman notes that the Perito Moreno is the only glacier in Patagonia’s southern ice fields that is not currently receding.  Having recently explored this stunning landscape of pristine water and ice, Forman recreates dramatic slices and unique perspectives of the glacier within each composition.  Her representations of Perito Moreno are exquisitely rendered, with precisely detailed color and texture.
