Cheerleaders floating the sky

“Coming of age.” What a diplomatic term for such an indelicate experience!

“Coming of age.” What a diplomatic term for such an indelicate experience! For all it’s warts, adolescence is a time of incredible self-exploration, pain, and growth. And nothing captures it more poetically (and grotesquely) than a coming-of-age movie.
For our next film series, “Grow Up!” MoPOP is exploring adolescence in all its lusty, zitty, complicated glory. We’ll be screening cult classics from all over the genre map that show just how joyful and confounding being a teenager can be.
At 6 p.m.. PT on Sunday, September 13, we’ll celebrate ‘But I’m a Cheerleader’ with an online watchalong of the film, plus pre- and post-film discussion with MoPOP staff and special guest Tori Truscheit.
Register online at MoPOP.org/Movies and you’ll receive a reminder a day before and an invite with link to join the online event two hours prior to the event start time.
