Part lecture, part reading, and most definitely a celebration, this evening with Washington State Poet Laureate, Claudia Castro Luna, will mark the conclusion of her two-year term as SVC’s designer in residence. Claudia will share what she’s learned during her residency, and read from her project — a letterpress printed book about the Columbia River, entitled One River, a Thousand Voices. The poem celebrates the river’s energy, beauty and power, while honoring the resilience of Native people who have lived along its banks for millennia. In addition, Claudia will pass the baton to next year’s SVC designer in residence, studio and public artist, Kristen Ramirez.
