Handsewing Sail and Canvas Work Skills in the Making of a Sea Scout Ditty Pouch.

The Center for Wooden Boats and The Artful Sailor present a half day workshop on basic palm and needle canvas work. The class project is a Sea Scout Ditty Pouch that employs most of the handwork skills and techniques involved in making a ditty bag, duffel bag or hammock; but, is doable in an afternoon.

The workshop will be led by Emiliano Marino, sailor, traditional sailmaker, author of The Sailmaker’s Apprentice and co-founder of The Artful Sailor Whole Earth Nautical Supply & Sail Exchange, in Port Townsend.  He will be ably assisted by CWB volunteer, Dee Bayley.

Cost: $ 325/members – $375/non-members
Price includes: Tuition, cloth, seaming twine, sail needle, and sailmaker’s beeswax.

•                Tools Required: Sailmaker’s palm, bench hook and fid.
