Join the MOHAI Youth Advisors (MYA) for BookMarked Seattle, a book club for teens!

We will be celebrating the opening of Seattle Style: Fashion/Function by discussing Shrill by Lindy West. Part memoir and part collection of essays, Shrill offers biting and humorous takes on misogyny, fat shaming, and learning to love yourself.

If you do not have enough time to read the entire book, that’s okay! You can alternatively read West’s essay My Wedding Was Perfect – And I Was Fat As Hell The Whole Time, published online in The Guardian. The essay reflects on body positivity as it related to designing her wedding dress, which is on display in Seattle Style: Fashion/Function.

Come explore the exhibit, discuss the reading, and meet new people!

Content warning for Shrill: This book uses language some may find offensive and discusses mature content, including a personal experience with abortion.
