Woman painting another portrait of a woman.

From July 19-25, internationally renowned fine artist Chiara Mecozzi will be popping up at Periodic: A Pop-Up Shop as the shop’s first artist in residence.

During the week, Mecozzi will be in the shop, painting five pieces on canvas and creating her next works of art. On July 24-25, the pop-up shop will open for a two-day-only gallery to view Mecozzi’s finished pieces. Visitors are welcome to view the gallery from 11 am-4 pm on July 24 and 25 to view, experience and purchase Mecozzi’s work.

Mecozzi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1985. From an early age, she was exposed to the world of Art through her mother and avid painter, Miriam Costanza. Growing up in an artists’ studio, Mecozzi developed skills and a curiosity for the Arts that led her to pursue an education in the field. She graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Art History and embarked on her career as a painter and photographer. Now, Mecozzi lives and works between Lisbon and New York.

Mecozzi’s paintings and photographs, offer glimpses of her personal search for connectivity and liberation. Through numerous layers of washed out oil paint, free flowing marks  and hidden words, she invites the viewer to intimately connect with the painting.
