Behind the Seams: The Miracle of American Fashion

Get a peek into MOHAI’s textile collection and view treasures rarely seen. After WWII the American ready-to-wear industry boomed, churning out everything from the couture-like artistry of Norman Norrell, to the affordable simplicity of Claire McCardell, to the casual practicality of local companies like Foster-Hochberg. These intimate one-hour session, led by MOHAI’s Costume and Textile Specialist, allow viewers to discover garments in detail and hear the stories that make them special.

Cost: $10 for MOHAI members / $15 students / $25 general public; includes museum admission.

Location: MOHAI, Norcliffe Conference Room.

Seattle Makers Market Presents SLU Fall Makers Mall

Celebrate Fall with the Seattle Makers Market! Shoppers are invited to browse among dozens of local artists and handcrafters, featuring painters, jewelry designers, apparel makers, woodworkers, and more. There will be live music and hourly raffles of gift certificates and donated handcrafted goods. We welcome everyone to come celebrate the artistry of Seattle’s vibrant artist and maker community, and browse their unique and beautiful offerings. Businesses will be open. The Fall Makers Mall is a family-friendly event.
