Stretching, breathing, balance and coordination are the focus. Bev Holstun, the instructor, has been practicing yoga for 25 years and teaching for 11 years. In addition to a 200 hour certification recognized by the Yoga Alliance, Bev is certified to teach prenatal yoga and restorative yoga.

This beginning hip hop class fuses various styles of hip hop dance (old school, pop, and funk) to enable people of all ages to get their jam on. With an emphasis on repetition and a strong cardio component, this class is perfect for those wanting to let loose to the beat, explore their funky side, and get a fantastic workout while doing it. Leah Jones, the instructor, began her eleven years of dance experience in the studios of Oregon Ballet Theatre, where she trained in the pre-professional program. Since then, Leah has explored myriad forms of dance, training most intensively in the Luigi jazz technique under Tracey Durbin and hip hop under acclaimed hip hop dancer Maricella Devine.

36th Annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival

The theme of the annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival is heritage wooden boats. The ambiance is that of an old-fashioned, down-home waterfront festival where everything is fun, almost everything is free and it is as authentically grassroots American as you can get and has been for the last 35 years. The 2012 Festival will include: visiting vessels, free public boat rides on Lake Union, activities for kids including toy boat building, kite making, and a scavenger hunt, craft and skill demonstrations, beer garden, food vendors, live music, and a 24 hour boat building race called the Quick and Daring.

CHARLOTTE is a film about an extraordinary boatyard, the Gannon & Benjamin Marine Railway, located on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Ross Gannon and Nat Benjamin established the boatyard in 1980 with the purpose of designing, building, and maintaining traditionally built wooden boats, and in the process they transformed Vineyard Haven harbor into a mecca for wooden boat owners and enthusiasts. After a long career of designing and constructing boats for others, Nat embarks on building a 50 foot gaff rigged schooner for use by his family and friends — her name is Charlotte. Free screening of this film at CWB on Friday, February 17th. Refreshments provided.

Flying Fish hosts beer week the last week of each month. During the week we will have 4 beers from a local brewery on tap. On Wednesday of the week, the brewmaster will be pouring. This month's featured brewery is Two Beers. It's a brewery in SoDo that started in a garage in 2007. They use ingredients from Washington to craft their beers, and we've been supporting them since they opened. Their brewmaster, Joel VandenBrink, will be behind the bar on Wednewsday to talk about his beers and generally entertain. During Happy Hour, 4 to 6:30 M-F, we will offer his beers for $3/glass and $4/sampler.

Body Orthodoxy: A Sensual Education

Rescheduled due to snow - these are the new dates. A group art installation and exhibit revolving around "the body" in a 112 year old house. The body is articulated by 10 different artists in a multidisciplinary exhibit. Questions of how we engage or disengage the body's beauty and gruesomeness; how we treat or mistreat the body; and how we long to have a better understanding, adoration and respect for the body will be addressed. It will beautiful and honest. This evening in particular is very special and will exhibit dancer Tori McConnell and classical musician Caleb Talbert as well as a performance art piece by Heather Stringer. Special performance at 7 pm on Sunday.

The Patricia Cameron Gallery is pleased to present "New Drawings" by Seattle artist Leslie McKay. Leslie McKay's drawings are meditative studies which embody forces conventionally seen as opposites. Working with circles and hearts in series, the final drawing is a process of successive layers, mathematically organizing the space in grids, waves, and other mark making. Leslie's use of the pencil is magic as she creates her drawings with delicate, feathery strokes in different patterns and grids, capturing energy.
