Come SPIT to us - your knowledge, your inspiration, humor, stories - in a supportive, welcoming environment where you'll get and give constructive feedback so that together we grow and improve our public speaking!

Not sure what to say or where to start? No problem. Come sit in and observe. Guests are always welcome!

This event is FREE, and of course Uptown Espresso would love us that much more if we happen to order beverages/snacks while we're here. Patronage of the café much-appreciated.

No pre-registration required, but we do love RSVPs! (via Facebook or MeetUp)

Art-aficionados, this is an event you will not want to miss! Our bi-monthly Art Reception will coincide with the South Lake Union Art Walk! There is a TON of stuff happening near the cafe (did we hear dance performance on the patio by the Khambatta Dance Company? tarot card reading inside by the lovely Regina Chambers?) and in the neighborhood, so plan ahead, get a map or walk around using the online map (link on the right)
If you decide to just hang out at the café, you will be able to enjoy "An Itinerant Glimpse", by the very talented Javier Ortega (website on right)
His body of work comprises beautiful acrylic paintings and amazing 3-d sculptured encased in vintage frames.

Loop the lake with your friends and family: Ride 10 easy breezy miles. Start at Fred Hutch and ride around Lake Union one and a half times. You’ll be riding along a controlled course, meaning one lane along Westlake and Eastlake will be coned off just for our riders for 2 full hours; rules of the road (i.e. stopping at traffic lights) still apply. Cross the Finish Line at Gas Works Park for a fun-filled afternoon with great food, drinks, music and more.

Help fight women's cancer and ride the 10-mile route.

Artists and photographers know that our perception of color varies, but color on the web typically lacks the nuance and depth we experience in the real world. In this workshop, designer Justin McDowell will show how to use CSS and preprocessors to create rich, natural color on the web that rivals any fine art.

If you’re a designer, you need to hear this: The days of "translating" your PSDs to HTML/CSS/JS are over. Designs need to be developed from concept to production in a scaleable solution, and if you’re not providing the solution, you’re part of the problem. In this no-holds-barred update on the intersection of design and the presentation layer, UI/UX guru Dale Sande will reveal how he went from Photoshop designer to one of the most in-demand presentation front-end developers. Come listen and take your career to the next level.
