Now here’s something to smile about: There’s a new dentist in the neighborhood, and his oh-so-convenient location in SLU will make your next choppers check-up a total breeze.
Dr. Hal Kussick has moved into the slick commercial space in Veer Lofts at 888 Harrison Street. His new practice, Dental@888, offers a variety of services – from cleanings and x-rays to cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery.
The office, which opened on Monday, is accepting new patients. Kussick offers some early-morning hours and evening hours to help accommodate people’s hectic work schedules, as well as lunchtime appointment times.
With pops of bright lime and orange throughout, Dental@888 is modern, with thoughtful touches everywhere – like the espresso machine in the lobby, the ultra-comfortable ergonomic dental chairs, and personal flat-screen TVs so you can watch shows while your pearly whites get some TLC.
“We want to make it as comfortable as possible and respect people’s valuable time,” Kussick said.
Kussick grew up in New Jersey, but moved to the Pacific Northwest to attend the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry. Following in the footsteps of his father, Kussick became a dentist and spent twelve years practicing in the Medical Dental Building in downtown Seattle.
“After doing that for so long, it was time to do something different,” he said. He jumped at a chance to work at a practice in Singapore, and stayed for five years. After moving back to Seattle, he decided to venture out on his own and he found the new office space in South Lake Union.
“In the five years I was overseas, South Lake Union changed immensely,” he said. “There is great energy now. I feel like I’m getting in on the ground floor of something very exciting.”
Kussick and his wife live in the Greenlake area, and he often rides his bike to work. He spends much of his free time cycling, climbing, skiing, and running. Every year, he volunteers for a month for Lake Clinic, a group providing free medical and dental care to people in remote areas of Cambodia.
